Careers at Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway: Summer AssociatesThe firm hires a number of summer associates each year from various law schools. We offer split summers for those that would like to work at another firm during the other half of the summer. We will also occasionally provide a clerkship opportunity to law students during holiday breaks from school. Our summer associates are provided exposure to all areas of the firm's practice. We offer a competitive rate of pay, and each associate is provided an individual office and computer. The goal of our summer program is to introduce law students to our law practice while we get to know one another. So that summer associates will have a broad exposure to our firm, we do not assign you to a specific practice area. Rather work assignments allow you to show us your abilities in a number of areas. We encourage our attorneys to include summer associates in client meetings, depositions, trials and other activities outside the office. So that we become well acquainted with you, our summer associates are invited to participate in firm sponsored activities. In the past these have included such things as trips to Louisiana Downs, bowling, Shreveport Sports baseball games, the Shreveport Symphony, jet skiing and frequent lunches. The firm pays for lunch for all of the attorneys at the Shreveport Club on every Monday. The summer associates are encouraged to participate in these lunches. By the end of the summer, we hope that you will have come to know us, our firm and the Shreveport community. We also hope that you will have felt comfortable in asking any question about our firm and practice. "Cook Yancey has all of the amenities of a big-city firm with the intimacy of a small town legal practice. During my summer clerkship I was able to work on a myriad of projects spanning different areas of the law, while building a close working relationship with members of the firm through my everyday work as well as firm-sponsored activities. I doubt I could have found a more balanced introduction to the law firm environment." By Jacob White, 2009 summer associate from LSU Law Center.
