GREGG A. WILKES

Mr. Wilkes primarily advises and represents insurance companies and their insureds throughout Louisiana.  He has extensive experience in all aspects of Louisiana insurance law and regularly represents clients in both state and federal litigation.  His areas of expertise include coverage issues and defense of extra contractual (bad faith) allegations.  He routinely provides coverage analysis to clients including coverage opinions, denial and reservation of rights letters.  He defends insurers throughout the litigation of complex coverage issues and bad faith allegations.  Mr. Wilkes’ insurance defense practice includes commercial general liability (CGL), automobile, homeowners, farmowners, and errors and omissions policies.  He handles first party property damage claims, uninsured/underinsured motorist claims, and third party personal injury claims.  Mr. Wilkes also regularly represents businesses in defense of merchant premises liability claims.  His practice also includes municipality and law enforcement defense in both state and federal courts.

Mr. Wilkes received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Louisiana Tech University in 1987.  He received his law degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1990. He served one year as law clerk to the Honorable Pike Hall, Jr., Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court.  Mr. Wilkes joined the firm in 1991 and currently serves on its Board of Directors.  Mr. Wilkes is a member of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, the Defense Research Institute, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Program, and the American Correctional Association.  He is also a long-standing member of the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel and previously served on its Board of Directors.  His email address is gregg.wilkes@cookyancey.com.
