DAVID J. HEMKEN
SHAREHOLDER
Mr. Hemken is licensed in Louisiana and Texas. His practice primarily involves the areas of complex commercial litigation, first and third party insurance disputes, and bad faith insurance claims. He has also defended a variety of claims in federal and state court, including class action lawsuits, legal malpractice claims, construction disputes, and environmental/toxic tort claims. Mr. Hemken joined Cook, Yancey, King & Galloway in 2013, and has been named as a Super Lawyer – Rising Star in Louisiana from 2016 through present.
Mr. Hemken received his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served as the articles editor for the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law. He received his undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Hemken worked as a law clerk for the Honorable S. Maurice Hicks, Jr., United States District Judge for the Western District of Louisiana, Shreveport Division, from 2012 through 2013.
Mr. Hemken currently serves on the board of directors for the Shreveport Bar Foundation and Robinson’s Rescue. David and his wife Angie have two children and are active in the Shreveport community.
