John C. Nickelson

Mr. Nickelson represents individuals and businesses in a broad spectrum of legal matters, ranging from complex commercial disputes to white-collar defense. He has extensive experience advocating for clients in both state and federal litigation, including derivative suits, first-party insurance claims, and professional liability defense. Representative matters include the defense of a company in arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association against claims brought by the company’s former CEO; defense of an employee charged with mishandling explosive materials at a federal military installation; and defense of company executives accused of mismanagement and breach of fiduciary duty.
Mr. Nickelson was elected to the Shreveport City Council and served as Chairman of the Council’s Audit and Finance Committee. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Bar Foundation, a past governor-at-large for Louisiana of the Bar Association of the Federal Fifth Circuit, and a past president of the Shreveport Bar Foundation. He is also a Master of the Bench of the Harry V. Booth and Judge Henry A. Politz Inn of Court.
Mr. Nickelson is regularly recognized by his peers for excellence in his field. He has been named a Louisiana “Super Lawyer” multiple times by SuperLawyers.com and has been listed as a “Top Attorney” by SB Magazine. He is admitted to practice in Louisiana and Texas.
Mr. Nickelson earned his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jennifer Walker Elrod on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
