Jeremy B. Shealy is an energy and natural resources attorney with two decades of experience providing legal counsel and representation to a diverse range of exploration and production companies, from large publicly traded operators to privately held independents.

Over the course of his career, Jeremy has developed a highly specialized practice focused on regulatory matters administered by the Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy and its predecessor agencies. He has extensive experience serving as lead counsel in administrative and public hearing proceedings involving the creation and further development of drilling and production units; unitization of ultra-deep structures; approval of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects; qualification of tertiary recovery projects for severance tax incentives; authorization to commingle onshore production; oil and gas well permitting; approval of automatic custody transfer of liquid hydrocarbons; underground injection control (UIC) permitting; and the negotiation of state voluntary unit agreements and operating agreements.

More recently, Jeremy's practice has expanded to include advising clients on carbon capture and sequestration matters and providing industry input in connection with agency rulemaking and regulatory policy. Complementing his regulatory practice, he regularly advises clients on oil and gas leasing and a broad range of related agreements, as well as the strategic planning, regulatory positioning, and development of oil and gas prospects and large-scale energy projects.

Jeremy is active in several land and energy industry associations and is a frequent speaker at professional seminars and institutes. He also serves as a guest lecturer for the Professional Land and Resource Management Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and previously served as a Director and Legal Advisor to LACGOE.

Jeremy earned his bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University in 2002, graduating magna cum laude. As an undergraduate, he was a member of the LSU football team, earning a varsity letter and recognition on the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. In 2006, he received his Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University.

A Lafayette native, Jeremy graduated from Lafayette High School in 1999. With many members of his family having worked in the oil field, he developed an early familiarity with—and appreciation for—the energy industry that ultimately helped shape his professional career. Outside of his practice, Jeremy has a passion for working with young people and has served in various volunteer roles with local high school athletic programs. He is a devoted husband and proud father of three.
